The Almshouses
“Near the foregoing are the Almshouses for six widows – comprising six neat, newly erected dwellings, all brick built and tiled containing two rooms with a lean to washhouse to each - a bakehouse behind the houses for the joint occupation of the tenants who reside therein rent free and have an annual allowance of firewood. There is a cowshed, timber built and thatched.”

"Herrings – a mansion house part stone part brick covered with tile in good repairs with suitable and convenient offices of all kinds for a large family – detached stabling for 20 horses, coach house for two carriages, all brick and covered with tile, and a wood house – a barn, board and tile, a clay and thatch hop oast, an ox lodge and cart lodge, all in pretty good repairs.
